Direct Land Sales

In certain circumstances, the Government may release land by ‘direct sale’, where a lease is offered for sale without going through a competitive process such as an auction. This method of land release may only be considered where an applicant and their proposed use of land meet statutory requirements including:

  • relevant eligibility criteria; and
  • demonstrated viable business case.

The Directorate undertakes the functions associated with managing the direct sale of land processes.  The Land Development Agency continues to prepare the release of land for sale, including once Government approves a direct sale.

The direct sale process includes the upfront assessment of an applicant’s eligibility for a direct sale, before their application can proceed.

If you are thinking about making an application, you should read the guiding documents in Steps 1-4 to help you prepare a ‘business case’ for your application.  This will help you determine whether your organisation and proposal meets the requirements of the Planning and Development Act 2007,img-icn-extlink including any relevant eligibility criteria in the Planning and Development Regulation 2008.img-icn-extlink

Step 1: Decide if you should apply

Step 2: Download the correct eligibility application

Step 3: Develop your business case

Step 4: Complete and submit your eligibility application
