Weston Creek Construction Projects

Weston Creek is a south-western region of Canberra with a population of approximately 23,000 at 30 June 2008.1 Its population is projected to increase to approximately 23,750 by 2019.2 Plans are well advanced for a new residential site called Molonglo which adjoins Weston Creek. It is estimated that Molonglo will house a further 10,300 by 2019.

Weston Creek was established in the late 1960s.

No ACT nor Commonwealth Government Departments are located in Weston Creek. However, a major Defence establishment, the Australian Defence College is located in the Region.

Eight suburbs comprise the Weston Creek Region: Chapman, Duffy, Fisher, Holder, Rivett, Stirling, Waramanga and Weston. Each of these suburbs has its own shopping centre.

A number of suburbs in the Region were significantly affected by the 2003 Canberra bushfires.
